Art adds an element of dramatic representation to a corporate environment that is difficult to achieve in any other way. Art can represent many facets of corporate life - where an enterprise is located, its employees, its products, its services, its customers or clients, its partners, its challenges, and where it envisions its future. Whether abstract or literal, art gives an air of significance and even permanence to what might otherwise seem an ephemeral endeavor. Art is especially useful for commemorating major milestones - the millionth mile, the millioneth customer, the billioneth dollar. At the least, art in the corporate environment - boardroom, executive office, employee passages, visitor centers - reminds everyone involved in the endeavor that the end of business is not the generation of income for its own sake but to enable the successful to enrich life culturally, socially, and psychologically.
